President & CEO

Debbie Reed has more than 30 years of marketing, strategic planning, and organizational leadership experience. For the past 26 years she has been with Chaddock, having served as Director of Marketing, Director of Planning and Special Projects, Chief Operating Officer, and, for the last 14 years, President/CEO of the agency.

Debbie is a frequent conference presenter on topics including leadership, strategic planning, innovation, quality assurance, marketing, and faith-based business accountability. Debbie is the author of two books, Attachment Theory in Action and Raising the Challenging Child, both written in collaboration with colleague Karen Doyle Buckwalter.

Karen Doyle Buckwalter

MSW, LCSW, RPT-S

Director of Program Strategy

Karen has more than thirty years of experience working with children, adolescents and families, 25 of which she has been at Chaddock. While at Chaddock, Karen has been instrumental in the development of an innovative residential program for adolescents with attachment disorders and complex trauma. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences. She has co-authored articles and book chapters that have appeared in Adoption Today and Fostering Families magazines. She is also a Theraplay therapist, trainer and supervisor.

Karen hosts the popular Attachment Theory in Action podcast and is the author of two books, Attachment Theory in Action and Raising the Challenging Child, both written in collaboration with colleague Debbie Reed.

Josh Carlson

MSW, LCSW

Director - The Knowledge Center

Josh has over 15 years of experience working with children and families at Chaddock, including residential and school environments as well as outpatient therapy. He is the Director of The Knowledge Center at Chaddock and oversees the training and consultation programs that TKC offers. He is also the Director of Caregiver Connections and oversees this statewide infant mental health consultation program in Illinois. Josh has presented at numerous regional and national conferences as well as provided trainings on trauma-informed schools and attachment-based and trauma informed care.
