Katy Perkins: What Is Adoption Competent? - Part 1

November is National Adoption Month, and Karen welcomes adoption advocate Katy Perkins, LCSW-S to the show for part one of their two part conversation on what it means to be "Adoption Competent." Part two will be released on Tuesday, November 23rd.

Katy Perkins, LCSW-S is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Supervisor in private practice providing therapy, professional training, case consultation and policy analysis in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Texas, and North Carolina. Katy specializes in family separation, sexual/domestic violence, cultural competence, and childhood trauma. She is a founding board member of STAR (Support Texas Adoptee Rights), a member of Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, Texas Council for Family Violence, National Association of Social Workers, and Adoption Knowledge Affiliates. Her experience includes community, state, and national advocacy as a leader and volunteer. Katy has been reunited with her first family for more than 20 years.
