Robert Karen, Ph.D., is an award-winning author and clinical psychologist in private practice as well as an associate clinical professor at the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychology Studies at Adelphi University. His written works include "Becoming Attached: First Relationships and How They Shape Our Capacity to Love," which he is currently revising. He is also the author of "The Forgiving Self: The Road from Resentment to Connection;" a cover story in The Atlantic on "Shame;" and "Beckoning: The Analyst's Growth as a Therapeutic Agent," among other works.
