Dr. Claudia Gold: How Discord & Repair Build Resiliency in Relationships

Karen welcomes Dr. Claudia Gold to the show to conclude their two part conversation about her latest book, The Power of Discord: Why the Ups and Downs of Relationships Are the Secret to Building Intimacy, Resilience, and Trust. This follows the two part conversation with the book's co-author, Dr. Edward Tronick

Dr. Claudia Gold has practiced general and behavioral pediatrics for over 25 years and now specializes in early childhood mental health. Dr. Gold is the director of The Hello It’s Me Project, a rural community based-program designed to promote healthy relationships between infants and their caregivers.


Dr. Gold works as a clinician with FIRST Steps Together, a federally funded program for pregnant and parenting women with opioid use disorders, and as an infant-parent mental health consultant at Volunteers in Medicine, Berkshires.


Throughout her career, Dr. Gold has written four books: The Power of Discord with co-author Ed Tronick, forthcoming June 2020, The Developmental Science of Early Childhood(2017), The Silenced Child(2016), and Keeping Your Child in Mind(2011). Dr. Gold presents regularly for audiences of both parents and professionals around the world. Her numerous articles are available on her website.


Dr. Gold currently sits on the faculty of the Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston, the Brazelton Institute at Boston Children’s Hospital , and the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute.
