Dr. Catherine Tucker: Research and Theraplay
Karen Doyle Buckwalter welcomes Dr. Catherine Tucker who will discuss her work with research and its applications in Theraplay.

Dr. Tucker is research director of the Theraplay Institute, maintains a private practice, and is a play & expressive therapist, supervisor, and trainer. Dr. Tucker is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a licensed school counselor, and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision at the University of Florida, and earned both her B.S. and M.Ed. at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Before becoming a therapist, Dr. Tucker was a school counselor for nine years at rural high poverty schools in North Carolina (most of those years were at a pk-3 school) before heading to UF for her PhD. She taught and coordinated counseling programs for 8 years at Indiana State University.
Dr. Tucker is active in the American Counseling Association and the Association for Play Therapy, and is president of the ACA division Association for Child & Adolescent Counseling.
